Spalted Maple Vase

This vase was created from a beautiful piece of aged (spalted) Maple wood that was on our acreage. The black lines woven into the wood are the "spalted" areas. They are created when a fungi eats into the wood and turns that specific wood area into a mineral. Aren't the lines beautiful.
